Spencer Robbins

Richard and Lisa had their little boy on Sunday August 3rd. His name is Spencer Graham Robbins. He was 7lb 12 oz and 19 inches long. Maylee looked just like Richard but Spencer doesn't! I am thinking maybe Spencer is going to take on the Graham side. Only time will tell. Lisa went all natural again, and her labor has 4 hours. (Can you believe it!) She went so fast! The nurses said she was a 7, she had a contraction and then she was a 10, and then the next contraction Spencer was here! Insane. We came to the hospital a few hours later and Lisa was walking around with the baby and Richard was zonked out on her hospital bed. I think the experience was pretty rough on him. Ha.

Porter loves watching the animals on Baby Einstein so my mom and dad thought it would be fun to take Porter to his first zoo and see the animals in person. Sometimes it was hard to get him to look at the animals, but he loved it when he actually saw them. Ha.

Last week Porter and I had the opportunity to fly to Sacramento to visit my family. My parents have two big dogs - Rocky and Snoop. They were going crazy outside because they could hear Porter squeeling and yelling inside and they didn't know what it was. They finally got to "barge" in the house and inspect the little thing that was making ALL that noise. Porter was a little surprised. He absolutely LOVED all the attention he got in CA (which was a LOT). He was constantly looking at each person to make sure they were watching him.

We got a little tired of the hair over the ears, mullet look. I am too scared to cut a Barbie's hair so I took him down the street to get his 1st real haircut. She gave him a sucker and he stayed as still as a rock. The only problem was that the sucker got on his face, and then the hair stuck to his cheeks. He left with a beard. Ha.

Porter usually likes to be put to sleep in his own bed. So when he fell asleep next to me on the couch Sunday morning I was so surprised. It was so sweet that I didn't want to move, and eventually I fell asleep also. I guess Jared snuck in with the camera. I love my baby.

Jared's brother Robby lives, breathes and probably dreams of snakes. He has a couple aquariums in his basement with snakes. And anywhere we go he wants to go hunting for snakes. I, on the other hand despise snakes! I am literally cringing as I see these pictures. Ooooh! Just the other day we were at their house and I went to use their restroom and lo and behold there was a rubber snake next to the toilet. I about had a heart attack! But since Robby just started blogging about snake, they all wanted to get some pictures of this snake that they found up the canyon. I can assure you all these pictures had to be cropped since they were taken from a distance.

2008 Porter Family Reunion

The Porter Family Reunion was last weekend, and you wouldn't believe the attention our little boy got since his name is PORTER. What a hit! Porter got to get lots of loves from his great grandma, his grandpa, and cousins galore. The reunion took place in Morgan, UT which is a mile from Porterville, Utah.. where my ancestors settled after coming out West. It is a really pretty city, green hills and rivers that run though. There is a man made reservoir at the top of the mountain. I would totally live there if it wasn't so far from the city life. Although, I guess THAT is what makes it so beautiful, huh?

There is this old picture of Jared and his brothers wearing matching Cowboys shirts. So for the 4th of July this year we decided we should duplicate the old Cowboy shirts. Richard and Lisa found similar shirts through one of their vendors and screen printed the logos on. The back of the shirts had our numbers which were the number in which we joined the family. It was cute. Everyone was troopers while I took pictures. I think it is darling. KUDOS to Jared who came up with the idea!!!

Last week we met Jared's brother Travis and his family in Moab. They had stopped at Moab on their long road trip from Florida to Utah! It was so good to see them. They got this sweet condo that fit 3 families, and we had a blast. We enjoyed swimming at the pool, Ken's Lake, hiking, Ken's Lake Waterfall, taking the raft out, catching up and playing! Talk about FUN in the SUN!

We arrived at the condo late at night, and Porter was already down for the night. The next morning he got to wake up and meet his Uncle Travis, Aunt Amy and a bunch more cousins. I was so glad we decided to make the trip out to Moab, it was so much fun!

Darron's Birthday

I have decided that South Fork park just south of Vivian Park is my favorite play spot in the Provo Canyon. I always have a blast there. So here are some more pictures of Darron's birthday party. Luke found a mud hole and was drove his pretend monster truck in the mud for over an hour. He was quite a sight by the end of the night. Football Maniacs!

We had Darron's birthday bash up at the South Fork park in the Canyon. We had a picnic dinner, and yummy donuts and ice cream bars. While Darron and Robby took a hike, Jared busted out the football for the kids and taught them TACKLE football. I am sure the moms were loving this. Porter has two little teeth that are getting ready to pop through and he is chewin like no other. Jennie told me about these biter bisquits that help with teething. She warned me that they were messy, but I still gave it to him in the jumperoo... what a mess.

After Porter made a mess, I stripped him and gave him his first "sink bath". It is just his size and he can sit up without worrying about slipping. He got water everywhere, but he sure did have a ball.

How will he start crawling?

So I am just curious how all your babies started crawling. I think if we would let him be on his tummy more that maybe he would be further along, but Jared is a protective daddy and hates to watch his baby struggle or be sad. And Porter doesn't like being on his tummy for long periods of time, it frustrates him. I have a neighbor whose baby was the same way and he would lean forward when he was sitting to reach something, and eventually got to where he was on fours. Interesting, right? Maybe he will do that? He can scoot backwards, but he isn't too consistent with it. I don't know how most babies start this step, it will be interesting to see how he does it. Just was wondering how it was for the rest of you.

Porter wants to go....but he can't. His new thing is that he wants to walk around the house all day holding your fingers. If you try and grab his hands to play or give him a toy, he will just grab our hands an pull himself up. He can't pull himself up on the couch but this picture captures his current mood.

Jared and I are really not fans of parades, we hate the traffic and the crowds but we just knew Porter would love the big floats and all the madness, so we walked the six blocks from our house to sit in the heat and watch the parade. They throw candy to the kids and this nice guy next to us thought Porter would like a sucker. He went to town. He was a pretty sticky mess at the end but at least he was a happy camper. We hoped he would stay up late enough to see the fireworks but he crashed just before they started. Maybe the 4th of July? This summer my sister in law Lisa and a couple friends got Season Passes to the Seven Peaks water park. The past couple weeks Porter and I have been trying to go 2x a week. He loves the water, and it is fun to get outside and enjoy summer. Yay for warm weather!

It seems like I am always snapping away when Porter is eating, he is just so funny with his messes. The other day I gave him some baby food that he apparently did not like. He found out that if he stuck his tongue out and rubbed his fist across he could get the food out of his mouth and all over his face instead. On the other hand, if he is eating something he likes...he is clean as can be. It is funny the things they learn.

One of my favorite sounds in the world is when Porter gets the "giggles". Every once in a while something will just strike his "funny bone" and he will get into a fit of the giggles. I am finding that his cousins do it best, especially Zach and Ash. They can get that boy going, and it is just so adorable. What I really need to do is catch these moments on the video camera, but I am always too busy laughing along. This was a couple weeks ago, Ash had him going. I love those kids and so does Porter.

So I have to say that it has been so fun to have a little boy that is content to let us dress him to the tee however we please. Not only will he wear his adorable little baby sun glasses, he now sports this cute little baseball hat. The other day we were at the park and I watched as a mom continued putting a little bonet on her little girl's head to shade her from the sun just to have her pull it off the next moment. I know this is rare of a baby his age, so THANK YOU Porter. I love it.

Porter and I had the opportunity to go to Rexburg, Idaho last weekend for Kristen and Joe's wedding. We were able to stay with my good friend Cassie, and I met up with another good friend Tara who lives in Miami. Kristen was a beautiful bride, and she and her husband are such an adorable pair. It brought back so many sweet memories of Jared and my wedding day. Congratulations to the newlywed couple!

My entire family was all together this past week in celebration of Kyle's graduation. It has been a little while since we have all been together at the same time. We had an enjoyable time, our highlights included: BBQ's, graduation, picnics, Tuscanos, miniature golfing, and more! Individual Updates Dad - Dad is still working for Warn Industries and has been there around 25 years! Currently restoring a Classic Chevelle. Mom - Mom works in the accounting department for Follett Investments. Claims she has frequent "Porter withdrawls". Rob - Rob rents a house with his good friend Travis and works at Ruby Tuesdays in Folsom. Jeff - Jeff lives in Orem in a condo and is going to Utah Valley University and works part time at a Collections Firm. Kyle - Kyle graduated from Orem High, and has moved back to Folsom to attend the Folsom College and work, and is interested in pursuing a filming career. Jared - Jared works from home on his online business http://www.superiorweddingrings.com/ and enjoys playing golf. Stacy - Stacy enjoys entertaining Porter each day, and is loving the warmer weather to play out in! Porter - Porter turned 6 months, he can sit up, and his favorite "real" food is yogurt!

Kyle's Graduationn - A Bittersweet Day

My little bro Kyle that has lived with us the past two years has graduated from High School and moved back to California. I am so glad that Kyle was able to come and live with us, otherwise we wouldn't all be buddies like we are today. Kyle left to head back to California yesterday, and our house just isn't the same without him here. Kyle was here when we found out we were expecting Porter, when I was a moody pregnant lady, when Porter was born, and he has been here for all of Porter's life. He is the handy man of the household, and has been such a help around the house, yard, and with Porter. Best of all, Jared and I have grown to be good friends with him. We are sad that he has left, and hope he will be back someday soon. Our home has a void with his not here........ Graduation was bittersweet, we are excited for him being graduated but sad he is gone.

6 Month Checkup

Porter got some new shoesies! His first pair with laces, and thus far they have been a great source of entertainment! He can pull on the laces, eat the shoes, and has great grip when trying to get his feet. All in all, I'd say he likes shoes.

California Baja Cruise

Porter and I just returned from a fun Royal Carribean Cruise to Mexico! We went with my family and met up with relatives from my mom's side of the family. 3 of the 4 sisters were there, with their kids and grandkids. We had a great time, and are grateful that we could participate in the fun! Here are some highlights of the trip.

After departing the cruise ship, we took Porter on the 15 minute drive to Hawthorne, California to meet his Great Grandpa for the first time! (My mom's dad.) We got to spend a couple hours visiting with Grandpa before getting on a plane to come back to Utah. I wish I could have had my camera when we reunited with Jared at the airport, Porter was SOO happy to see him.

Jazz Playoffs Party - Game 5

Darron and Jamie hosted the Game 5 Playoff Party - Jazz vs. Lakers. We were so very close to winning, but didn't quite make it. Friday is Game 6 and it is at home. We have to win if we want to stay in. I think we can do it. Here are some pictures of the party.

Jared is our family sports commentator. He can call a foul before the whistle is blown, and knows something about every player. It is fun to watch a game with J.

If you have ever watched Frank Caliendo perform in Utah, you will know what I mean when I say Richard was using every "substitute swear word" in the book. WHAT THE FRUIT? Ha.

Porter stayed up for 1/2 of it. Then Ashlee helped me put Porter to sleep. We sang him songs for 10 whole minutes.

Post Jazz Party

Prior to the Jazz v. Lakers game, we went to Darron and Jamie's ward mutual activity for some Ultimate Frisby. None of us ended up playing but it was fun to be outside. Jacki and Cammeron came down too. I think there were some hopes that the event would ward off some energy before the Playoffs game, but it was still loud and intense. Of course, what else would you expect? Game 6 is ours.

Jacki and I worked together for a few years at MyFamily before we started having babies. We had a lot of fun and have managed to stay in touch.

Coach Robbins and Coach Hodson - Jared and Cammeron coached the Springville High football team last year. They did an awesome job.

Centenniel Park

Yesterday Porter and I got together with Jacki and her two kids. We took the kiddies to Centinniel Park in Spanish Fork, close to Jacki's house. Brynlee is almost exactly a month older than Porter. She is a cute little thing. I can tell that she has an older brother, because she wanted to take all of Porter's toys. Of course he could have cared less. We haven't seen them for a few months, o it was fun to visit. Here are some pictures of the fun!

My Dad has been a San Diego Chargers fan for as long as I can remember. Our whole family grew up Chargers fans because of that! So when we were visiting in January my Dad surprised Porter with a little tiny Chargers jersey. The smallest he could find was 24months, but Porter is such a big boy that it fits him now. He wore it for the first time today, so I had to take some pictures to show him off, and so Dad could see. He is definitley the best looking fan I have ever seen!

Spring Cleaning

This Saturday we spent doing our outside Spring Cleaning. We cleaned up the landscaping by laying down the black stuff and some fresh bark, and we cleaned out our garage. All overdue chores! But our yard looks awesome if I do say so myself. Thanks to Jeff and Kyle who put lots of hardworking hours in to help out! Here are some "exciting" pictures of our weekend!

Porter made some great contributions to the Spring Time cleaning. He sat on a blanket so well behaved and played with his toys like a good little boy does. He was sure to tell Kyle when he missed a spot. Very accurate. Just kidding. Porter and I had fun hanging out on the front yard bossing the boys around. It was a productive fun day!

We got these little baby size sunglasses for Porter, with little expectation that he would actually wear them. I took him on a walk and put them on him. He loved it. In fact he actually cried when I took them off, and then STOPPED crying when I put them back on! I think he loves wearing his sunglasses because that means he is going to be outside, and he loves being outside! Here are some snapshots of Porter looking cool in his sunglasses, and also still managing to show some crazy expressions at the same time.

Jared and I find this pretty funny. Every night when Porter goes to sleep, or is about to fall asleep he pulls his blanket over his face and for some unknown reason he falls right to sleep. We always come and pull it off his face, only to find that he has pulled it over himself again. Once in a blue moon, he willl wake up crying and when we go into his room you can see his head turning from side to side and he has forgotten that he is under his blankie. We just had to share his funny little habit with you.

Spring Time 2008

Spring Time

Now that the weather has started to warm up, we are learning that Porter really likes to be outside. As soon as you take him outdoors a big smile is splashed across his face. We have been enjoying some nice walks to the park, and playing in the yard. I wanted to get some cute pictures of Porter sitting up in the beautiful outdoors. But it was his first time sitting on grass, and it was quite the chore to avert his attention from the green grass to the camera. He sure had fun.

Porter's cousin Ryan is four months older than him. When Porter was first born, Ryan seemed SO much older. He was SO much bigger, and SO much more mobile! Now these little boys are starting to catch up to eachother. They are now close in size and lately they have enjoyed sitting across from eachother and playing with toys. I think it is funny, they do get jealous if one has a pacifier or a bottle and the other does not. Now that Porter's hair is lighter, they almost resemble eachother. They could be brothers! I am sure this little pair will have a lot of fun times together in their growing up years.

Sitting Up

After about a weeks worth of practice, Porter is now sitting up on his own. He loves to sit and play with toys. You can just tell that he loves the independance. The only downfall is that now he wants to sit up all the time. Anytime we put him in the carseat or lay him down, he immediately lifts his head up trying to move into the sitting position. He even attempts to drink his bottle sitting up.

Mischievious Porter

The other night we were all hanging out in the family room. I had just changed Porter's diaper and he was laying on the floor playing with his feet. Next thing we knew he started hitting the bag of diapers that were near him because he liked the noise it made. He was very entertained! Next thing we knew he had gotten a grip of that bag and managed to dump the diapers and go to town with that bag. I know you aren't supposed to let babies play with plastic but we were keeping a close eye. We had to share his 1st little act of mischief.

Conference Weekend my girlfriends and I met up. Dayna and her little girl Kylie, me and Porter, and Jenna and her new little girl Joslyn.

We woke up Sunday morning expecting a beautiful SPRING day, but instead we found SNOW!!

It has these nice little wheels so he can slide all over the place!

Before we arrived in Phoenix we stopped in Las Vegas, NV to attend a Jewelry Convention for one day. I don't think the hotel employees were used to seeing babies in Vegas and we was a hit. He was bombarded by strangers non stop. Porter and I ate breakfast in the hotel restaurant while Jared placed an order at the convention and we had between 40-50 admirers come to our table. People wanted to hold him, and were offering to hold him while I ate. It was crazy!

The pool in Vegas was nuts! There were slides that went through an aquarium with sharks in it!

We got to visit our friends Amy and Randy while we were there, and their adorable little girls Ellie and Emery. They were nice enough to watch Porter while we attended the convention. We all went out to eat and visited after.

This is the famous Hoover Dam. They are building this new bridge, that is INSANELY high.

First day in Phoenix, AZ. Awww....warm weather. It was so refreshing!

We went on a little train ride.

He thought it was a lot of fun, until...

...we went through a dark tunnel and the driver honked the horn and it was LOUD. He didn't cry, but he stuck on that lower lip.

We saw this really cool aquarium at this jungle store.

It really did feel like a jungle inside and they had rainforest sounds. Porter was really intrigued.

We were in Phoenix during Spring Training Baseball. Our hotel was just minutes from one of the stadiums and we went and watched the A's/Cubs game. It was so much fun.

While they were warming up Porter and I were down at the bottom watching them. You can see the players checking him out, right?

Next thing we know, he is in the spotlight! What a lucky duck!

All that fun wore him out, and we had to take him back to the hotel for a little nap before we went out for some more fun.

He was such a good boy, he is so easy to travel with. He played and slept during the drives, and loved being in a new environment.

We met the cutest little puppy you have ever seen! Isn't he adorable???? The next cutest thing after babies have to be puppies.

He liked it. And he thought stuffed animals were cool...

We went to this awesome park in Downtown Phoenix, that has a little amusement park for the kids, and a lake, rivers, waterfalls, a golf course, and lots of picnic parks and playgrounds. It was beautiful and a blast!

Porter loved being outside in the nice warm Arizona weather. He especially loved not being bundled up but being FREE in a pair of shorts and tshirt everyday. He is like his Dad in that way.

He got to try to go down the slide at the park, and he showed no emotion.

These paddle boats looked like SO much fun. We were so excited to go on them until we learned that kids had to be 2 or older. We were bummed. We decided next year he could pass as 2.
